Tips for getting the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- First, have your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Dunes Village Resort-Indoor Water Park-2 BR\/2 BA-Full Glass Wall for Great View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
