Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean Forest Villas E316 - Oceanview has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
