Strategies to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Heavenly Oceanfront Relaxing Penthouse! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
