Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Fabulous Angled Oceanfront Suite has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
