Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Large Family Friendly Condo- Beautiful Views of the Pool, Courtyard and Ocean has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
