Sticking to a rental home budget:

Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.

- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. - Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
