Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Family Suite w\/ Angle View of Ocean + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
