Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Fifth-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, AC & WiFi - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
