How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. First Floor End Unit Excellent Condition Shipwatch Pointe 2 M105 Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
