Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking the bestvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. It's high tide and you're so close to the beach you can sea it! Free Water Park! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
