Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Free State Park Pass 1st Floor (By Beach Star) has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
