Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Paradise Three-Bedroom Condo 11h Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
