Our top Rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 2BR\/2Bth Condo, Internet, Pool, Vaulted Ceilings, 42'Flat TV has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
