Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- First and foremost, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Gorgeous Ocean Front Condo on 17th floor, with Marshland Views. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
