Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Private Seaside Cottage. Pool Access, Balcony, Outdoor Bar, Short Walk To Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
