Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Gated resort condo with amazing amenities, easy beach access, & bright interior has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
