Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Finding the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Golf & Beach Oasis - 2 BR Condo W\/ Year Round Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
