Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Gorgeous Double Queen Suite! Sleeps 4! Sea Mist 51602 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
