Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Gorgeous Oceanfront 3 Bedroom w\/ Balcony + Endless Ocean Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
