Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous top floor 3BR condo at Magnolia Pointe has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
