Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful Oceanfront 1-Bedroom Suite on 9th Floor at Grande Caymen has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
