Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. GREAT ON BEACH LOCATION!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
