Strategies to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best vacation rental:
- Start by having your family select dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. GREAT ON BEACH LOCATION!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
