Finding the best rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Happy Waves -Direct Ocean Views in the Golden Mile ( Sand Dunes) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
