How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Harbour Lights™ - 2 Bedroom Combined has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
