Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Direct Oceanfront Queen Suite w\/ Great View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
