Our top Rental home tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Harbour Lights™ - 2 Bedroom Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
