How to book the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Perfect Family Vacation Spot, Oceanview balcony, WIFI, Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
