How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Start by having your family decide on the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Royale Palms Beautiful Studio Perfect for 2 adults has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
