Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Harbour Lights, South Carolina, 2 Bedroom Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
