Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on vacation dates and a maximum budget.

More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
