Rental home tips:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing and booking the rightrental:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Centrally Located Near Sports Center, Broadway at the Beach and Golf has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
