Rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Immaculate Ocean View Double Queen Suite! Beautifully Upgraded!-Grande Cayman Unit 316 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
