Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the rightrental home:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean View King Suite-Pools with Hot Tubs- GC-437 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
