Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
Finding the best value:
- To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. In Myrtle Beach Resort Direct Oceanfront 506B Sweeping Ocean Views From Balcony has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
