Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- First and foremost, have your group choose dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Incredible 1BR condo, ground floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
