Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanview Room 2nd Floor Oasis: Amenities Included has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
