Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking the perfectrental home:
- To start, have your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 19th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, pool, hot tub & gym - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
