Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Get the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Large Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
