Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. The Best Oceanfront Views and Location!!! Book now for a relaxing getaway. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
