Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Large Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
