Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Large Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
