Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Large Oceanfront Five Bedroom Condo - Available by Luxury Beach Rentals has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
