Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2 BR\/2BA Oceanfront,Central,Many amenities,WIFI has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
