Getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Lazy Days Cozy Cottage Ocean Lakes has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
