Our top Rental property booking tips:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Lodge Villa 2 Bedroom at a 57-Acre Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
