Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Luxe Living in Oceanfront Suite! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
