Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- To get the best rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Updated One Bedroom Condo- Boardwalk Resort Unit 837 - Direct Oceanfront! Sleeps 8! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
