Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Luxury 2BR With Custom Upgrades! The Horizon at 77th- 503 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
