Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Luxury Oceanfront at Southwind Resort (2nd floor) - by Luxury Beach Rentals has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
