Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking yourrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Pools, Golf
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
