Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking your prefectrental:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Magnolia Pointe Magnolia Lake 4817-204 has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
