Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Finding the best vacation home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Updated Oceanview Oasis - Modern and Fun! Mini Arcade! Sand Dunes 1002 has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
